What's new with Employee Stock Ownership Plans?
Karen Ng is in the San Francisco office of Nixon Peabody LLP, where she focuses in ERISA and employee benefits matters with an emphasis on employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). She has extensive experience with the design, implementation and administration of ESOPs, pension plans, profit sharing plans and 401(k) plans and advises clients with respect to the structuring of ESOP transactions involving both closely held and publicly traded companies.

What are the Trends in Non-Qualified Plans?
Since 1999, Jason Stephens has worked for CAPTRUST Financial Advisors as a director and practice leader, responsible for advisory services to executive nonqualified deferred compensation plans. Jason actively consults with clients regarding nonqualified plan design, financing, administration, investments and participant education. Jason heads the team responsible for the oversight and management of all nonqualified plan portfolios. An ERISA technical expert, Jason spent 10 years helping qualified plan sponsors solve similar issues before taking over leadership of the Nonqualified Executive Benefits team. He earned the Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC) designation through the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries and the Certified Fund Specialist (CFS®) designation through the Institute of Business & Finance. Jason also earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Jason received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Ryan Koch, Partner at Moss Adams, has been practicing public accounting since 2001, primarily serving employee benefit plans and venture funds. He specializes in all aspects of employee benefit plan audits, including 401(k) plans, pension plans, health and welfare plans, and SEC Form 11-K filing requirements. Ryan has presented at regional and national conferences as an employee benefit plan audit authority advising plan sponsors, plan advisors, and other CPAs on topics such as audit compliance, fiduciary responsibility, and overall best practices.
